Physiotherapy is a health care
profession which emphasises the use of physical
approaches in the prevention and treatment
of disease and disability. It is a systematic
method of assessing musculoskeletal, cardiovascular,
respiratory and neurological disorders of
function including pain, and dealing with,
or preventing those problems by natural
methods based essentially on movement, manual
therapy and a range of physical agencies.
Physiotherapy
was established as an independent profession
over 100 years ago and is the only chartered
physical therapy among a growing number
of alternative therapies. It is recognised
by Doctors as a major contributor to health
care and accepted supplement to medicine
and surgery. |
